Day 2 - not a great start

Well, we won't be staying at this hotel again. We went to bed early since we were tired from the travel. But we had an ajoining room. And out neighbor was enjoying a TV show, rather loudly until 2:00 am in the morning. A call to the front desk at 1:30 didn't make much of a difference. Surprise.
So we were up bright and early to leave. And it's raining. I'm not looking forward to setting up a tent in the rain. But the weather improved about an hour out of Portage.
Wasn't too impressed with the Chicago area. Seems we spent more time paying tolls than we did actually driving.
But we arrived at the campsite perfectly dry and we set up the tent without killing each other. We actually did quite a bit of exploring and were able to catch the air show. And we had a great nights sleep too. Must have been all that fresh air.

Day 1 of our OshKosh adventure

Our vacation has finally started!
Steve loved him when I told him there was a Cracker Barrel within a mile of the border! (Thanks Debbie! - I picked up more gum & another shirt) And wouldn't you know it, we arrived there just a little bit earlier than lunch time.
We arrived safe and sound in Portage, Indiana around supper time. Oops didn't realize there was a one hour time difference - GPS was saying we'd arrive at 4:00 but we were still 100 k away. Good thing we figured that out.
The Hampton inn is nice. Duvet is VERY lumpy. Guess they didn't think about what would happen to them after a couple of washes. We have a lovely view of the parking lot. I was going to send a picture, but I left the camera in the car. (Sorry.) This is our last night of air conditioning for a while, so we're enjoying it.
The fun starts tomorrow.
Supper @ the Steak & Shake. (hmmm does that sound like something Andrew might do?) Bypassed the Olive Garden AND the Outback, as we were still full from lunch. Sigh!
More about the fun tomorrow.
